After facing disappointment in my Freshman year because there was no competitive math team at my school, I organized one my Sophomore year.
It involved advertising, hosting practices, and planning logistics for contests. I taught contest preparation classes for the team twice a week and organized the participation in 5+ contests a year (both in person and online).
The classes consisted of both advanced and beginner levels to help even beginners find the fun in problem solving! We host regular mock competitions for students to measure their progress.

I have been involved with Mu Alpha Theta since Freshman year where I started as Freshman Rep. and have progressed to now being Co-President.
As one of the largest academic clubs, we provide weekly academic tutoring for math classes through our members volunteering. Members have the opportunity to teach in neighboring middle school math clubs as well. We organize the AMC contest, and promote additional preparation and contests through the contest math initiative.
We created the Tompkins Math Contest (TMC), which is a free online middle school math contest that attracted ~40 students and was sponsored by the Art of Problem Solving.
We also promote math through fun social events. One of our largest events is a marshmallow tower building contest between schools where each Mu Alpha Theta nominates the most robust structure to represent the school.

Through Athemath, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit aimed towards empowering girls in competition math, I competed on an all-girls math team. We went to ~5 contests a year including at Stanford, CMU, Princeton, Harvard, and MIT. We practiced weekly online and attended classes taught by world-class female mathletes.

I have invested countless hours in the USA Math Talent Search (USAMTS) and math program applications. Through solving these rigorous problems and writing proofs, I have strengthened my logical reasoning abilities and problem solving skills.
